"I moved to Abernathy in July of 2001 when I was hired at the Superintendent of Abernathy ISD. I came here because of the reputation of the school district, the proximity of Lubbock, and I wanted to raise my family here.
Both of my children graduated from Abernathy High School and loved going to school here. I have stayed in Abernathy since my kids have graduated because it has become our home. I love the community, school, and the sense of pride and community spirit that is here in Abernathy. I cannot think of a better place to life, work, or raise a famiy."

"My husband and I moved to Abernathy in 2001 to open the second branch of our family-owned drip irrigation business. We chose this location because of the advantageous logistics including: access to Interstate 27, it is the hub of an agriculture region, and the nearby commercial airport.
We stayed in Abernathy because of the small community and school system. There is easy access to major shopping, dining and entertainment.
An advantage of the not-too-small, not-too-big school is that our 14 year old son has an opportunity to experience and participate in as many extracurricular scholastic and sporting events that interest him. He is not just a face in the crowd. His former teachers from long ago still know him name."
